Sometimes you don't have time to learn long lists of words and phrases. All you want to know are the bare essentials for communicating to get what you need, or where you need to go.

Pronunciation Guide
Vowels:
ă is pronounced as er as in her (ə)
â is pronounced as ɨ (a high schwa ə or New Zealand i)
i at the end of a word palatises the preceding consonant,
eg. vorbiți is pronounced as vorbitsʲ

Consonants:
c before e or i is pronounced as ch as in church (tʃ)
ch before e or i is pronounced as k as in kite
g before e or i is pronounced as j as in judge (dʒ)
gh before e or i is pronounced as g as in gate
j is pronounced as zh as in pleasure (ʒ)
ș is pronounced as sh as in shop (ʃ)
ț is pronounced ts as in cats

The word eu is pronounced as yeu, e as ye, este as yeste (with a light ye as in yet).
