Pronunciation Guide
Vowels:
a is pronounced as a as in spa (ɑ)
ä is pronounced as a as in hat (æ)
i is pronounced as ir as in bird in Australian English (ɘ)
ï is pronounced as e as in brother followed by a y sound (əj)
ı is pronounced as e as in brother (ə)
o is pronounced as a u followed by Kazakh u (IPA uʊ)
ö is pronounced as an i with unrounded lips followed by Kazakh ü (IPA yʉ)
u is pronounced as u as in put (ʊ)
ü is pronounced as u as in rude in Australian English (ʉ)

Consonants:
ğ is pronounced as a voiced uvular fricative as in French and German (ʁ)
j is pronounced as s as in pleasure (ʒ)
ñ is pronounced as ng as in singer (ŋ)
q is pronounced as a uvular k, far back in the throat (IPA q )
ş is pronounced as sh as in shop (ʃ)
x is pronounced as kh as in loch or Bach (x)

The letters i, ï and ı are capitalised as İ, Ï and I.
