Jack and Lisa were on school holidays, but it hadn't been a fun holidays yet. It had been raining every day!

"Look!" cried Jack, pointing out the window. "Finally the sun is out!"

"Why don't you go on a picnic? You can spend all day outside," suggested Mum.

First they went down to the shed to find Pedr.

"Shw mae! Ble dyn ni'n mynd heddiw?" squawked Pedr.

"Dyn ni'n mynd at y llyn i gael picnic," replied Jack.

"Gadewch inni fynd at a llyn!" squawked Pedr. And with a big flap of the wings, he was off leading the way up the path.

"Mae'n boeth," said Lisa, wiping her face with her hand. "Dw i angen rhywbeth i'w yfed."

"Mae syched arna i hefyd," said Jack.
"Ble mae'r lemonêd?"

Suddenly, something large swooped down from the sky towards Lisa.

Lisa screamed, "Ow!! Help! Helpa fi!"

It was a ferocious magpie and she was on the attack. She thought they were too close to her nest.

"Beth sy'n digwydd?" cried Jack in alarm.

"Cer o 'ma!" shouted Jack, flapping his arms around his head as the magpie targeted him.

"Na i'ch helpu chi!" squawked Pedr.

He chased the magpie high up into the tree, while Jack and Lisa disappeared down the path.

They ran and ran and ran until they were out of breath ...

"Slow down!" cried Lisa. "I think we're lost! I can't see the way to the lake any more."

Lisa looked up into the sky and saw Pedr flying above.

"Stopia, Pedr!" called Lisa.
"Dyn ni ar goll! Ble mae'r llwybr?
Dyn ni ddim yn gallu ei ffeindio fe.
"

"Fe alla i ffeindio fe drosoch chi!" squawked Pedr as he zoomed down through the trees and along the path.

"Dilynwch fi!" he screeched.

"Arafa!" puffed Jack.

"Dyn ni ddim yn gallu hedfan fel ti! Rhaid i ni fynd drwy'r perthi," he called.

"Dyna'r llyn! O'r diwedd!" cried Lisa.

"Diolch am dy help di, Pedr!" said Jack.
"Croeso," replied Pedr, preening his feathers in embarrassment.

They sat down beside the lake and started to set up their picnic.

First, they started with some fruit. Pedr called out as his favourite food appeared out of the backpack ...

"... eirinen wlanog, mefus, bricyll, banana, oren ..."

"... ceirios, gellygen, grawnwin ..."

Pedr eyed all the food with interest as it was placed on the picnic blanket.

"Mae eisieu bwyd arna i. Ga' i flasu'r gacen, os gweli di'n dda?" he asked, bobbing his head towards a slice of fruit cake.

...............

"Paid â'i bwyta!" said Lisa, grabbing the cake.

"Mae hi wedi cael ei gorchuddio â morgrug." She tried to brush all the ants off. It was difficult.

"Mae eisiau bwyd ar y morgrug ..." said Jack. "Ac maen nhw'n hoffi bwyta cacen."

"Peidiwch â phoeni!" squawked Pedr. "Dw i'n hoffi cacen a dw i'n hoffi morgrug hefyd!"

Lisa raised her eyebrows at Jack. "Ugghhhh!" laughed Jack and Lisa together.

"Y bara!" squawked Pedr. "Gofiaist ti ddod â'r bara?"

"Do," replied Lisa. "Anghofiais i mo'r bara."

Pedr happily grabbed a chunk of bread in his beak.

"Oes caws 'da ti?" asked Jack.

"Siwr iawn! Dyma fe," replied Lisa as she pulled it out of the backpack.

"Rho gyllell i fi, os gweli di'n dda," he added.

"Diolch," mumbled Jack through a mouthful of cheese and bread.

They all ate for a while, chatting and laughing together.

"Ydy hyn yn ddigon o fwyd?" asked Lisa. "Dych chi eisiau rhagor?"

"Nac ydw ... Mae stumog dost 'da fi. Efallai ei fod e'n ormod," said Jack.

"Byth!" squawked Pedr. They all laughed.

They spent the rest of the afternoon climbing trees, exploring and running around.

The sun was starting to get very low in the sky.

"Mae'n hwyr," squawked Pedr.

"Ydy, rhaid inni fynd adre nawr," said Jack.

They packed up their things and headed home down the path away from the lake .... tired, happy and not the slightest bit hungry.

Soon they could see the roof of their house through the trees. It was good to be home.

...............

Magpie was happy to be alone again. She was even happier when she discovered some bread they had left behind.
