Jack and Lisa were on school holidays, but it hadn't been a fun holidays yet. It had been raining every day!

"Look!" cried Jack, pointing out the window. "Finally the sun is out!"

"Why don't you go on a picnic? You can spend all day outside," suggested Mum.

First they went down to the shed to find Tú.

"Xin chào! Chúng ta đang đi đâu hôm nay thế?" squawked Tú.

"Chúng ta đang đi đến hồ để dã ngoại," replied Jack.

"Hãy đi đến hồ!" squawked Tú. And with a big flap of the wings, he was off leading the way up the path.

"Nóng quá," said Lisa, wiping her face with her hand. "Tôi cần uống gì đó."

"Tôi cũng khát," said Jack.
"Nước chanh đâu?"

Suddenly, something large swooped down from the sky towards Lisa.

Lisa screamed, "Ố!! Cứu tôi! Cứu tôi!"

It was a ferocious magpie and she was on the attack. She thought they were too close to her nest.

"Chuyện gì thế?" cried Jack in alarm.

"Đi chỗ khác!" shouted Jack, flapping his arms around his head as the magpie targeted him.

"Tôi sẽ giúp các bạn!" squawked Tú.

He chased the magpie high up into the tree, while Jack and Lisa disappeared down the path.

They ran and ran and ran until they were out of breath ...

"Slow down!" cried Lisa. "I think we're lost! I can't see the way to the lake any more."

Lisa looked up into the sky and saw Tú flying above.

"Dừng lại, Tú!" called Lisa.
"Chúng tôi lạc rồi! Đường đi đâu?
Chúng tôi không tìm được nó.
"

"Tôi có thể tìm được cho các bạn!" squawked Tú as he zoomed down through the trees and along the path.

"Hãy theo tôi!" he screeched.

"Chậm lại!" puffed Jack.

"Chúng tôi không bay được như bạn! Chúng tôi phải đi xuyên qua các bụi cây," he called.

"Hồ kia rồi! Cuối cùng thì cũng thấy!" cried Lisa.

"Xin cám ơn vì tất cả sự giúp đỡ của bạn, Tú!" said Jack.
"Không có chi," replied Tú, preening his feathers in embarrassment.

They sat down beside the lake and started to set up their picnic.

First, they started with some fruit. Tú called out as his favourite food appeared out of the backpack ...

"... một quả đào, những quả dâu, những quả mơ ...

... một quả chuối, một quả cam ..."

"... những quả anh đào, một quả lê, những quả nho ..."

Tú eyed all the food with interest as it was placed on the picnic blanket.

"Tôi đói lắm. Tôi ăn thử cái đó được không?" he asked, bobbing his head towards a slice of fruit cake.

...............

"Đừng ăn cái đó!" said Lisa, grabbing the cake.

"Nó bị kiến bu đầy." She tried to brush all the ants off. It was difficult.

"Lũ kiến đang đói ..." said Jack.
"Và chúng rất thích bánh."

"Đừng lo!" squawked Tú. "Tôi thích bánh và tôi thích kiến nữa!"

Lisa raised her eyebrows at Jack. "Ugghhhh!" laughed Jack and Lisa together.

"Bánh mì!" squawked Tú. "Bạn có nhớ bánh mì không?"

"," replied Lisa. "Tôi không quên nó."

Tú happily grabbed a chunk of bread in his beak.

"Bạn có pho mát không?" asked Jack.

"Có chứ! Đây này," replied Lisa as she pulled it out of the backpack.

"Làm ơn đưa cho tôi con dao luôn," he added.

"Cám ơn," mumbled Jack through a mouthful of cheese and bread.

They all ate for a while, chatting and laughing together.

"Vậy đủ chưa?" asked Lisa. "Các bạn muốn nữa không?"

"Không ... Tôi bị đau dạ dày. Có lẽ đó là quá nhiều," said Jack.

"Không đời nào!" squawked Tú. They all laughed.

They spent the rest of the afternoon climbing trees, exploring and running around.

The sun was starting to get very low in the sky.

"Muộn rồi," squawked Tú.

"Ừ, bây giờ chúng ta phải về nhà thôi," said Jack.

They packed up their things and headed home down the path away from the lake .... tired, happy and not the slightest bit hungry.

Soon they could see the roof of their house through the trees. It was good to be home.

...............

Magpie was happy to be alone again. She was even happier when she discovered some bread they had left behind.
